Battle of the Sexes!

Alright so this is a response to the Blog Gabs just wrote about Scott commenting on some quirks that girls have. From the girls I know, lots of them make the occasional comments about how hot some guy is or how they want to marry some guy because of this or that. The whole genre of chick flick movies just spur this emotion on. Now, i know that when they say these things they are joking, and i have no problem with joking like that at all! (nor do i have a problem with chick flicks :-P). But i do find it interesting that when a guy makes the same sort of comments about women lots of the time girls somewhat freak out. like gabby said in her blog entry about: her mom was speechless when she saw the picture of Natalie Portman and scott.

i just think its an interesting topic of discussion, and has some interesting sociological significance (woot i am learning about gender identity in my sociology class right now!)

so I think that perhaps maybe scott (and the rest of us guys) are trying to figure out this somewhat double standard that you females have :-P

anyways let me know what you think.

Okay. First of all I don't think Gabby understood much of that part what I was meaning. Really I wasn't talking to her about quirks, but more about life, and trying to understand girls better, go figure she IS one. I wasn't really even thinking about quirks. and I think boys and girls assume a lot of things about each other that aren't true, some things they exaggerate, some they belittle. This is where there's gotta be grace. Point to the treasure inside the jars of clay instead of the imperfections on the jars.

haha....wow this is one just REALLY big misunderstanding I'm glad at least that everyone is amused by it. But yeah Michael, I agree that girls tend to be less harsh on each other and understand if their fellow female is plastering their wall floor-to-ceiling with pictures of Orlando Bloom and Zach Efron. I think because to them the female mind is not as much as a mystery and they understand the motives. With guys whom we don't understand at all really, we are much less gracious. I don't really think this is fair persay but I think it's the reason why.

:-)

oh and my mom was speechless in a GOOD way....

that's a very interesting observation i never even thought of.
well. this is just my opinion from my experience with dudes.
i know you're not like this michael and not all guys are but i feel when guys say "oh my gosh she's so hot" or "i'd marry her" that pretty much translates to "i'd do her"
like i said not true for all guys but this is a lot of college guys i know talking.
everyone has double standards. there are double standards for worse things.
